Who We Are
The Festival at the Switchyard honors the critical role the railroad played in putting Carrollton on the map and the continuing importance of rail in Carrollton's present and future. The event is held on the streets of Downtown Carrollton, situated off IH-35E at Belt Line Road, just steps away from the DART Green Line Downtown Carrollton station. This year's Festival at the Switchyard is Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.
What We Do
Volunteers are needed for various roles during the event, including providing information to guests, monitoring rides/games, and assisting with children's activities.
To sign up, click VIEW DETAILS under Program Opportunities below, then click RESPOND. This will prompt you to complete the following forms:
- Volunteer waiver
- Background check form (age 18 and over) or minor consent form (under 18)
- Volunteer application
Once you have completed these qualifications, festival staff will contact you to schedule your shifts. Note the following requirements:
- Must commit to at least one two-hour shift
- Must have an email or phone that is checked regularly so that we may communicate additional details to you closer to the event.
- Have a cheerful attitude and be ready, able, and willing to work outdoors.
- Are at least 16 years of age (volunteers ages 14-15 will be accepted if they are part of a group such as school, church, or scouts with adult supervision).
